Hiking holidays Dolomites Splendid autumn colours in the Isarco Valley

Colourful forests and vineyards, hiking trails covered with shiny leaves and warm sunshine – the autumn in the South Tyrolean Isarco Valley shows off its romantic side. The leaves on the trees change colours and the woods shine in rich shades of red and yellow. The deep dark green of the pine trees and the pale limestone peaks of the Dolomites create a striking contrast to this firework of colours. Charming walks take you from the farm Schnagererhof across colourful vineyards and into the alpine highlands of Mount Plose. Along the way, in quaint taverns and inns you may enjoy South Tyrolean specialties.

Törggelen in Isarco Valley A culinary journey across South Tyrol

Törggelen in Isarco Valley is an ancient tradition that bears resemblance to a culinary adventure journey. During your hiking holidays in the Dolomites, traditional taverns will serve you delicious South Tyrolean specialties. Enjoy hearty meat platters, tasty “Schüttelbrot” (crispy bread) and savoury “Schlutzkrapfen” (ravioli filled with spinach), accompanied by a glass of new wine.

Chestnut and apple Event highlights in the autumn

In the city of Bressanone and in the villages in the Isarco Valley, many exciting events are on the autumn programme – don’t miss them during your hiking holiday Dolomites. On the Apple Plateau of Naz/Sciaves, the new Apple Queen will be crowned during the Apple Festival, and the plentiful harvest is celebrated. In Bressanone, the Sunnseitn Apple Weeks take place, and at the end of October the Chestnut Weeks start. Starting from September, in the mountain villages it’s time for the cattle drive. The festively decorated cows are driven down from the lush meadows on the mountain pastures and return to the winter quarters.

In the town centre, the mighty cathedral rises, with the perfectly preserved Gothic cloister and the ornate frescoes by Paul Troger.
